The Month in Clay

by Jennifer Poellot Harnetty, Editor, ceramicartsdaily.org | Read Comments (2)

It's that time of year again. Here in the Midwest, these last few weeks of winter are brutal. Sometimes I find myself doubting that spring will ever arrive. So what better way to counteract the winter doldrums than get out and see what’s happening in clay in the month of March? To make things easier for you, we thought we'd highlight a few great exhibitions and events that will help cure those winter blues.

If you can't make it to any of the events featured below, be sure to check out the Ceramics Monthly Calendar, a new feature on www.ceramicartsdaily.org, for a more comprehensive listing of exhibitions, conferences, fairs and workshops in your neck of the woods.

monthinclay_NCECAwalker.jpgIn a couple of weeks, we’ll be heading to the annual National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts conference (www.nceca.net).  This year, the conference takes place March 19-22 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. If you plan to attend be sure to visit us at booth 500, where we'll be handing out free copies of Ceramics Monthly and Pottery Making Illustrated, and free posters. We'll also have our books available for sale at a special show rate, along with great t-shirts and other clay-friendly goodies.

The show will feature a wide range of functional, sculptural and installation ceramic works by emerging and nationally recognized artists.
